Who: The West Villages Improvement District Board of Supervisors and North Port City Commission.
What: The Improvement District’s regular October meeting is cancelled, while North Port commissioners will hold a Monday workshop on Activity Centers 6 and 10, infrastructure-district questions and development-review process.
When: The cancelled district meeting had been scheduled for Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 1 p.m.
Where: District meetings are normally held at the North Port Commission Chambers, 4970 City Hall Boulevard.
Why it matters: The West Villages Improvement District has authority to plan, finance, construct, operate and maintain public infrastructure within Wellen Park.
A cancellation means there is no district vote or public-comment opportunity on October 8.
It does not mean that growth and infrastructure questions have paused.
North Port’s October 5 workshop is the week’s live public forum for Activity Centers 6 and 10, comprehensive-plan visioning and how commissioners engage with pending development applications.
How residents can participate: Public comment for a district hearing requires in-person attendance when a meeting is held, while the North Port workshop should be followed now for early direction on future growth decisions.

Growth questions do not pause just because a board meeting gets cancelled. Appreciate that point being made clearly.

I always forget the chambers are on City Hall Boulevard. Good reminder in here.

Would be nice if they offered any kind of virtual option for public comment. Not everyone can get there in person.

That's a fair point, and the best workaround for now is bookmarking the official district meeting schedule at westvillagesid.org/meetings and checking it regularly ahead of any scheduled date.
